For the first gal to be featured in our “10 Questions” with a local series we damn sure picked a good one: Candace Ceslow, a local artist, “mermaid“, dog lover and all around cool girl.

LT: What’s your deal?

CC: I’m a crafty ass white chick.

LT: Why Montauk?

CC: Family, friends, the beaches.

LT: Long or short?

CC:  Short! I’ve never looked good with long hair 😉

LT: In your opinion – what is the best, or worst, thing about Montauk?

CC: Best: how quickly the community comes together to help out those in need!

LT: Low Tide or High Time?

CC: Low Tide.

LT: What is your favorite place to eat – or drink – in Montauk?

CC: Late nights at the Pizza Village window and The Gig Shack.

LT:  If you could instantly realize one wish, what would it be?

CC: To travel and explore more.

LT/CC: Before I sleep I always _ turn off my cell phone_.

LT: Favorite artist? Why?

CC: Philip Guston – his abstract expressionism period inspired me to give up the paint brush and not be afraid to use thick paint and palette knives. I only just recently started using paint brushes again. I’m currently also digging Stuart Shils and his landscapes.

LT/CC: I love to _create_ because _it makes me feel so refreshed and rejuvenated afterwards, if I haven’t painted or made anything in a while I get very grouchy…not fun_.
