Abstract Syntax: A New Visual Vocabulary
FRIDAY 5:30pm at The Montauk Beach House

ontauk Beach House proudly presents “Abstract Syntax: A New Visual Vocabulary,” an innovative solo exhibition by David Stein, curated by Nicole Ianniello. In this exhibition, Stein creates a new visual language through paintings by abstracting familiar geometric symbols to form a unique alphabet. This visual language explores nonliteral communication and showcases the beauty of language in art, resulting in captivating and visually striking artworks that demand an interpretive approach. The exhibition will open on June 23rd, 2023, and run through June 26th, 2023, with a special opening reception on Friday, June 23rd, from 5:30-8:30 PM.

Drawing inspiration from early modernist themes like Dada and the Avant-Garde, Stein’s work challenges viewers to question how language changes when presented in new forms. It explores the connections between symbols and their meanings.

Curator Nicole Ianniello states, “David Stein’s geometric symbols are a powerful language that can visually express art, inviting viewers to explore communication complexities and visual expression.”

A portion of the exhibition’s sales at MBH will be donated to Montauk Skate Park, demonstrating a commitment to supporting the local community—the exhibition partners with an organization that significantly contributes to public enrichment.
